Jobs in Kuwait for Expats 2026: Where to Search, Salaries, Work Permit Rules & Scams to Avoid

Quick answer

Most expat jobs in Kuwait are advertised on LinkedIn, Bayt, GulfTalent, Naukrigulf, Indeed Kuwait and Foundit Gulf, and on company career portals such as Alghanim Industries’ careers.alghanim.com. Blue-collar roles are usually filled through licensed recruitment agencies in your home country. You need a job offer first: the employer applies to the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) for your work permit, your degree is verified on PAM’s Ashal portal, and you enter on a work visa. Typical 2026 salaries range from KD 160–250 for drivers to KD 450–700 for teachers, nurses and engineers, with no income tax.

How hiring works for expats in Kuwait

Kuwait does not issue job-seeker visas. Every expatriate worker in the private sector is sponsored by an employer, who must hold a quota of work permits from the Public Authority for Manpower. The normal route is: you apply and interview, the company issues an offer letter, it applies for your work permit, you complete the medical in your home country, and you enter Kuwait on the work visa. After arrival you complete fingerprints and the medical test locally, the residency is stamped and you receive your Civil ID.

  1. Search and apply through job sites, company portals or a licensed agency.
  2. Get a written offer stating the salary that will be registered with PAM, your profession, probation period and benefits.
  3. The employer applies for the work permit through PAM’s Ashal portal; your degree is checked against the profession.
  4. Complete the pre-departure medical through an approved centre (book via wafid.com where your country uses it).
  5. Travel on the work visa, then complete fingerprints, the Kuwait medical and residency stamping.
  6. Collect your Civil ID and open a bank account so your salary can be paid.

The salary written in your PAM work permit is what counts for family visas, bank loans and any labour dispute. Do not accept a lower figure on paper with a promise of extra cash.

Apply on several channels at once, but keep a simple list of where you applied, so you can answer quickly when a recruiter calls. Kuwaiti recruiters often phone or message on WhatsApp first, so keep your number with the country code on your CV.

Alghanim careers and the “talent hub”

Many people search for “talent hub” or “talent hub Alghanim”. Alghanim Industries, one of Kuwait’s largest private groups (retail, automotive, electronics, logistics and more), recruits through its own careers portal at careers.alghanim.com, where you create a profile and join its talent community. Once your profile is in, recruiters can match you to openings even if you did not apply for a specific role.

  • Upload a CV in English, one or two pages, with clear job titles and dates.
  • Choose the business areas you are interested in, such as automotive, consumer electronics or logistics.
  • Keep the profile updated – an old CV with an expired phone number is a common reason candidates are not contacted.
  • Alghanim also runs graduate and internship programmes, mostly aimed at Kuwaiti nationals.

Use the same approach for other large employers: Al Mulla, Al Sayer, Agility, Zain and the big banks all have their own careers pages. Applying directly avoids agency fees and fake listings.

Jobs in Kuwait for Indian and South Asian candidates

Indians form one of the largest expatriate communities in Kuwait, and many searches such as “Indian Kuwait jobs” come from candidates in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and other states. Naukrigulf and Foundit Gulf carry many Kuwait listings, and Indian-run companies, schools and hospitals in Kuwait often recruit through them.

  • If your Indian passport is in the Emigration Check Required (ECR) category, your employer and agent must complete emigration clearance on the Indian government’s eMigrate system before you travel.
  • Use only recruitment agents registered with the Indian government, and check the registration on eMigrate.
  • Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nepali and Filipino workers have similar protector or overseas-employment registration steps in their own countries – ask your licensed agent.
  • Searches such as “guru Kuwait” usually lead to aggregator or classifieds sites that repost vacancies from elsewhere. Treat these as leads only and apply through the employer’s own channel.

Safety officer jobs in Kuwait

Health, safety and environment (HSE) staff are in steady demand because of Kuwait’s oil, petrochemical, construction and infrastructure projects. Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) contractors, EPC firms and large construction groups hire safety officers, supervisors and engineers.

  • Internationally recognised HSE certificates (for example NEBOSH or IOSH) and verifiable Gulf or oil-sector experience are usually expected.
  • Oil-sector contractors often require extra site-specific training and medical fitness checks after arrival.
  • Your work permit profession must match your qualification – a safety officer post normally needs a relevant diploma or degree.
  • Summer outdoor work is banned from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM between 1 June and 31 August; safety staff are expected to enforce this on site.

Work permit rules to know

  • The employer applies for the work permit; you cannot apply yourself.
  • Since April 2025 PAM verifies degrees automatically through the Ashal portal. Your registered profession must match your degree and job title, and higher degrees added later must be attested in your home country and in Kuwait (Circular 1/2026).
  • Moving to a new employer generally needs your current employer’s approval until the contract ends or after three years of service.
  • Workers over 60 with secondary-school or lower qualifications can renew and transfer normally again – the KD 250 fee and mandatory insurance rule was revoked in December 2024.
  • Report unpaid wages, passport confiscation or visa-selling to PAM (hotline 103) or through Sahel; see our Labour Law guide.

Avoiding job and visa scams

  • No legitimate employer asks you to pay for the visa, the medical or the ticket. Selling visas (residency trading) is a crime in Kuwait, and victims end up with no job.
  • Check the company on the Ministry of Commerce register or Google Maps, and ask for a copy of the PAM work permit before you resign at home.
  • Be wary of “visa 18 free” offers for KD 500–1,500 on social media – you get a residency with no real job and risk deportation.
  • A genuine offer letter states the PAM salary, profession, probation and benefits in writing.
  • Never send your passport or bank details to a recruiter you have not verified.

Tips for a Kuwait-ready CV and interview

  • Put your nationality, current location, notice period and visa status near the top – recruiters filter on these.
  • List Gulf experience separately; Kuwaiti employers value people who know local processes.
  • Attach scanned degree certificates that are already attested, or say they can be attested quickly.
  • Interviews are often by video first. Test your connection and be ready for questions about salary expectations in KD.
  • If you are already in Kuwait, ask your current employer about transfer rules before you accept an offer.
